General Rules
Except for cache number 8 which is a virtual cache, any cache that contains a logbook where you can leave a signature will qualify. Along with your signature you may want to leave some item with your caching name on it to prove that your were actually at the cache you are claiming. We have a rather large scurvy skeleton crew that will be roaming around watching the players. They've been looking for these lost coins for a long time now and they wouldn't take too kindly to anybody trying to cheat. So here are the caches you will need to find and log:
1) STATUE CACHE
Find a cache that mentions a statue or is near a statue. A virtual cache will not count for this requirement. The cache must contain a logbook that you can sign and date. As long as you can see a statue from the cache location it can count.
2) RIVER CACHE
This one is very simple. Find a cache that has the word "RIVER" in the title. The cache must contain a logbook that you can sign and date. But don't go too near the water, our crew is quite at home in water!
3) GRAVEYARD CACHE
Find a cache that mentions a cemetary or is in or near a graveyard. The cache must contain a logbook that you can sign and date. As long as you can see a cemetary from the cache location it can count.
4) FIRST TO FIND
This one may be a bit more difficult. Be the First To Find at a new cache. Finds before November 12, 2005 will not count and you cannot claim a FTF on a cache that you or a family member owns. You never know when one of our skeleton crew will be around to check the logbook in the cache, so no hanky panky!
5) LAST 3 DIGITS MATCH
Find a cache where the last 3 digits of either the latitude or longitude match. The decimal portion of the minutes is the part that must match. An example of a qualifying cache is Incorrigible Polygon of Mischievous Inclination by Sporkboy and Puddin Princess GCQJA3 N 44° 00.777 W 123° 04.627. Notice the three 7's at the end of the North coordinate. Either one of the coordinates can have matching digits to qualify for this requirement.
6) FOREST CACHE
Another very simple one. Find a cache in a forest or wooded area but be on the lookout for our crew members lurking behind the trees!
7) MICRO CACHE
Find a cache that has the size listed as "MICRO". Better take an extra scrap of paper to make sure you can leave a legible signature inside. You know who might be checkin' up on you!
8) VIRTUAL CACHE
This could be difficult in some areas as this dying breed of caches is going extinct and no new ones can be created. It's not required but it would be a good idea to include a photo of yourselves at the cache site on your cache log in order to keep our skeleton crew happy! You don't want them poking around checking up on you!
9)CACHE WITH GREAT VIEW
Log any cache that is at a great view spot. The farther that you can see the better. You'll be able to see if one of our crew is sneaking up on you!
10) CACHE FOR LITTLE GIRLS
Find a cache that is Sugar And Spice and Everything Nice. It can be a cache that was placed by a little girl or features items that appeal to little girls. If you take a little girl with you be sure to hold her hand real tight so she won't be afraid of our watchers nearby!
11) CACHE BY A CAVE
Find and log a cache that is in or near a cave or mine tunnel or some kind of hole in the ground. Please note that it is not necessary to actually enter a cave. If you can see a cave or mine from a cache location then that will qualify. Please be very careful on this one as our crew enjoys hanging out in caves!
12) CACHE PLACED IN 2003
Find and log a cache that was placed in 2003. Hopefully folks have been caching in your area for a couple of years so you can find one of the older caches. If not, you might have a long journey ahead of you.
13) PLACE A CACHE
Find a good spot and place a cache any kind of cache. Be sure to follow the guidelines at geocaching so that it can be listed promptly. It would be a good idea to leave some nice stuff for our crew should they happen to come by looking for your cache!
14) MOVE A TRAVEL BUG
For this one you will need to find and move a travel bug. Log the cache where the bug was placed. You must actually leave the bug in the cache that you log. Beware . . . . eyes will be watching!
15) ATTEND AN EVENT CACHE
This could be another difficult one depending if there is an upcoming geocaching event in your area. If not you might need to plan one. Bear in mind that geocaching requires events to be submitted 2 weeks in advance so don't dilly dally. And check those newbies carefully . . . our crew might be there checking up on you. We wouldn't recommend serving rum punch!
16) DOG CACHE
Find a cache where the owner or co-owner of the cache is a dog. A cache featuring items for dogs will also qualify. If you take your dog along don't be surprised if they get spooked by our lurking crew men!
