We woke to an eerie silence. The drums had stopped and there was not a sound of a bird or animal to be heard. Making our way from the shore through the trees we climbed to a knoll that gave us a view ahead. High up on the mountain side looks to be a cave, I rally the men and we start our climb. Breathing heavy and weary too we approach the cave. The entrance to the cave is blocked with large boulders. Magellan spies a large flat stone standing aside the entrance. There’s some scratching on it, it’s a number – 2003! It don’t figure, what is it ? If this is a code I ain’t never seen anythin’ like it before. It’s a clue I’m certain but to what?. I decide to hide that stone in case somebody else comes along. Magellan marks the site where we hide it so we can find our course to it when needs be. We don’t want any scoundrel to get their hands on it and beat us to the coins!

We rowed the small vessel back across to the main island this morning. We’re hoping to find some clean water and food there. Once landed we quickly make our way onto the sandy beach. One of the men let out a blood-curdling scream. We all gathered to see what these ravings were about. There on the sand was the largest bug I’ve ever seen, strangest creature I ever laid me eyes on. Didn’t look mean just odd it was.

I picked it up to have a good look and moved it into the shade of the palms as I see those muggle birds circling overhead, just eyeing the strange creature.
I know we must head east now, across this island, which Magellan believes is the main one of the chain. We are near spent when we come upon an oasis of blue water in the midst of a grassy green area. The water is cool and refreshing and the men have found some wild berries, this is a good place to rest for the night and since we are all together we enjoy a small celebration as we swap stories of our past adventures…some of which are actually true!

The barking woke me out of a sound sleep! Sounds like some mangy mutt alright. Magellan and I make our way towards the barking and find a dog in the middle of a clearing on the edge of a cliff, digging up the ground! “Be gone you mangy dog…get way from that hole” I said and the animal turned tail and ran in to the woods. Coming upon the hole we saw a green, metal box still buried in the ground. We start digging ourselves anxious to learn of its contents. I start dancing a little jig, a whoopin’ and a hollerin’. “Watch your step Captain”, Magellan warns, one step too big and you could go over that cliff!
