How are the FINAL standings determined. If it is based on total time then someone could always start the game months later and finish ahead of you.

But worse! It really hurts, when say, the compressor goes out on your fridge just before you're supposed to throw your outlaw in jail!

I agreed with lasagna about being able to plan you life around the game. Of course sometimes you mess up and you still end up with a bad log time. But that's part of the fun.lasagna wrote:Afraid I don't agree ... I like the clock ticking only when hunting. That way, I can time when I want to hunt and plan around life's events. It's nice being able to play this over the course of the month knowing I still have a shot at the top without having to give up my life to cache for 9 days straight and be logging at all times of the day and night. So far, its just the right combination of caching, puzzling, and strategy for me.
I don't understand your comment about ready internet access ... if the clock was ticking all the time you'd be at even more of a disadvantage since you couldn't plan your cache slots.

It just sucked that the fridge went out and it made me late to log. Not cool yo.

Next game, can we go back to the earlier way of doing things. when the score you finished with was fixed in stone?

I certainly hope NOT! As Xquid said, if you want to see how quickly you made it to the finishing line, pull up the finishers list. If you want to see how well you played the game from a strategy standpoint, look at the finishers list.
I like this strategy aspect. It rewards those who take the time to research their locations and selections with better log time totals and lets those who are playing plan their log times so that they aren't having to log at crazy hours of the day and night despite whatever else they have going on in their lives.
Sure, if you want to perhaps have two "winners" (first to finish and best time), that's fine by me, but don't take away this strategy element. It made this game a whole lot more fun to play this time around.

I DEFINITELY agree with Lasagna. Very well stated!! This game was more fun to play simply because of these changes.
